Noritake Cameroon Sand 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

Noritake Cameroon Sand 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 Review

Noritake Cameroon Sand 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 Feature

• 4 each: teacup; 6-inch saucer; 6-3/4-inch bread plate; 8-1/2-inch salad/accent plate; 11-inch dinner plate
• Crafted of translucent yet durable fine white porcelain
• Platinum rim etched with wave design; dotted sandy-beige border
• Contemporary in sensibility; works for formal or casual occasions
• Renowned Noritake quality; dishwasher-safe

Appealing in its simplicity, Cameroon Sand imparts a contemporary sensibility that reflects the calm of the sea. The narrow platinum edging on the rim is etched with a subtle wave design, while the dotted beige band implies a sandy beach or perhaps a spotted seashell. This 20-piece set allows four diners to enjoy a meal with four of each of the following: a smoothly rounded teacup with 6-inch saucer; a 6-3/4-inch bread-and-butter plate; an 8-1/2-inch salad/accent plate; and an oversized 11-inch dinner plate. The accent plate differs from the other pieces in that its entire border is covered with the beige background and concentric rows of dots.

An excellent example of Noritake's 100-year reign as a dinnerware leader, Cameroon Sand is beautifully crafted of fine white porcelain that resists chipping and breaking. The dinnerware is also safe for the dishwasher, making it ideal for more frequent use than just formal occasions. The platinum trim, however, does not allow the pattern to be used in the microwave. --Ann Bieri

Noritake Montvale Platinum 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 Feature

• 4 each: teacup, saucer, bread plate, salad plate, dinner plate
• Crafted of translucent fine bone china
• Classic raised enamel design on taupe border with platinum trim
• Formal yet durable; made in Japan
• Safe for dishwasher, hand-washing recommended

A blend of white, taupe, and silvery platinum creates a timeless elegance on this Noritake fine bone china. Intricately detailed but not dainty, the taupe border features a slanted chain design and classical scrolls in raised white enamel that is pleasing to the touch. On the plates, the chain design repeats in taupe-on-white at the inner edge of the rim, while lines of platinum add luxurious definition. Montvale Platinum teacup and accent plate feature a broader border of the white scroll on taupe.

Serving four diners, this twenty-piece set includes four of each of the following: a footed teacup; 6-inch saucer; 6-1/2-inch bread-and-butter plate; 8-1/4-inch salad plate; and 10-1/2-inch dinner plate. Montvale Platinum is crafted out of translucent fine bone china, which is much more durable than many consumers realize. Though intended for formal occasions, the dinnerware certainly can hold up to the rigors of everyday use. The platinum precludes use in a microwave, and, while dishwasher-safe, the china is best cared for when washed by hand. --Ann Bieri
